WitchCraft nails: Pentagrams

I can't think of any other symbol on this planet that has a worst reputation than a pentagram (maybe the swastika). People relay twisted this one into something dark completely unnecessary. Day in and day out that fact makes me sad ... I just want to wear my big ass pentagram earrings without folks staring at me and thinking that I am a Satanist - and yes I realize wearing all black all the time is not helping me #eyeroll

Pentagrams can mean a lot of things - my favorite is that it represents the 5 elements. Air, fire, earth and water + spirit (the top). It was used to ward off evil it even was part of the early Christian symbol library, but then they gave it such dark connotation that they ruined it for the rest of us. But I don't care I love my pentagrams may they be turned upright or downside.

For this manicure I wanted to make a 3D pentagram out of my nail studs, then I didn't know what to put next to it, and I decided to stack only more pentagrams around it. 2 are quite random and the pinkie one is the Supernatural tattoo the Winchesters wear. It might be the most famous one in the modern memory.

For this look I used Catrice Berry Potter & PLUMBeldore and Maybelline no. 197 black and white glitters. The stamps are made with Kiko Gold metallic polish. The plates I used are MoYou London Gothic 1 & 12, also hehe 017. The studs are all from BornPretty Store.

Stay magical ...

L.O.V. Nail polish review

L.O.V. is a new luxury line on our beauty markets that comes form the same firm as Essence and Catrice. So I was very excited to see it - but then I realized that this brand is just not to my liking. I can appreciate their make up since you can see the great quality, but when it comes to nail polish I was a bit underwhelmed. It must be because of my crazy polish taste, but for an upscale costumer with traditional taste in colors, this is the perfect brand :)

For my review I got these 2 beauties to play with. A classic dark almost neon pink and a 'no lamp needed' Get top coat. A great way to get a blogger hooked on a new brand :)

The pink nail polish is named Precious pink. I was very impressed by its brush, that is the perfect shape and the bristles have the perfect sturdiness that makes application a breeze. When I was making these swatches I didn't need any clean ups. And the best thing is that the polish is very highly pigmented. Meaning it took one coat of it for coverage, thou I applied 2 just to be sure. Also now I see why they are a luxury brand, since something in the formula of the color makes it stay on my nails a lot longer than the usual couple of days. I only wish they had more fun colors to choose from.  :( This one is a deep dark almost neon berry pink, full of pigment, a perfect jelly.

The Gel top coat is truly very shiny and easy to apply. The brush here is just as amazing as in the nail polish. The drying time is very fast and there is no UV lamp required of any kind. It did help with the staying power of the polish on my nails. I think it gave it at least a couple of extra days and the tip wear came into the scene a bit later than normal. A great top coat that I will restock when I use this one up.

Don't forget to visit their social media pages where they always keep us posted about their newest collections and post such pretty inspirational pictures.

Essence New nail polish collections review

Guys it is no secret that I am a big fan of Essence! I don't even know where to start when it comes to praising them! Not only are their items easily affordable but the quality is great on most items. Personally I am most excited when it comes to their special collections or limited editions. And in this years Spring / Summer assortment they introduced 2 brilliant new nail polish collections that you can see below.

I won't bore you with swatches since there are so many other more talented swatching bloggers out there. But I will show you that they both are very useful if you are a stamping fan like me. And I want to tell you more about these nail polish collections since I fell like they are a must have for any beauty enthusiast.

As mentioned these are swatches and stamping tests, so the plates I used were BM-XL213 and BM-XL353.

Here you can see a close up of both of the polishes from the picture below, and at the same time you can see that they are both great for stamping (but only under special circumstances).

The blue one is from their Color boost collection named Instant match. A good dark almost neon blue is always a shade I gravitate towards. And I was happy to see this one in this collection since shades like that can be a bit streaky. The point of the Color boost nail polishes is that they are opaque in one coat. And this blue is like that, but you have to make sure that the coat of the polish is very thick. Which is not a problem since they dry very fast, and when they are dried up they look quite shiny. Very useful if you are a girl on the go. And it is very good to stamp over lighter shades, not so good for stamping over darker polishes.  Check out the entire Essence Color boost collection for the other colors.

The second nail polish is part of the brand new Out of Space stories collection named Outta space is the place. The collection is a fun mix of everything you need to make a galaxy manicure, meaning there are a lot of darks, multichromes and silver glitters. And somehow the folks at Essence knew I had my eye on this shade. It is a milky white with pale pink undertones with a light blue shimmer. Pure magic! I swear this is what mermaid tears look like. I was a bit unhappy with the fact that it took 3 coats for full opacity, but it turns out that you can use it as a stamping polish for ethereal light blue stamps over dark surfaces. It doesn't work so well over light polishes. Don't forget to head on over to their Out of Space stories page to check out the other shades in this collection, so you don't get as overwhelmed as I did when I saw them in stores.

Essence is celebrating their 15th Birthday of kicking ass and taking names in the land of cosmetics. So head on over to any of their social media sites and wish them a happy birthday, they deserve it since they fuel so any of beauty blogger addictions ;)

AVON Lipsticks review

Avon is a lovely firm that offers their products to ladies all over the world with its catalogue sales. I love how convenient that is since there are days I just don't want to leave my house. They always keep with the trends and release new collections all the time so there is always something fun to get.
Today I have for you 2 lipsticks from 2 different collections just to show you how amazing their products are not matter from what line you get them ;)

First we have Extreme mauve that comes from their Ultra color collection. It is a bold deep pink berry with red undertones. The pigmentation is great, full coverage in one application. And I was quite happy with the lasting power. If you eat or drink naturally some if it will come off, but the pigment leaves some of the color on your lips so if you quickly apply a bit again it is like nothing ever happened.
The lipstick dries semi matte and is quite fun to wear - I must get more of these :)

This year Avon has created another side of their brand named Mark. It is a partly revamp of their existent products with new looks, quality and designs. They have everything you need in this line not just the lipsticks, something worth seeing if you are into a bit more fun colors.

The shade here is Coco kisses, that is a nice little 'nude' looking bright cappuccino brown. It dries a lot more matte then the previous lipstick. Once more the application is a dream since the coverage is very subtle and soft, due to the fact it is a nude shade. The lasting power was quite strong, thou when it comes to nudes like this it is slightly less visible. But if you are a smoker keep an eye out for touch ups. I rather like this shade a lot more than the 1st one.

The best part of it all no matter where you are from Avon is available to you! So visit their WEB PAGE and online store. Or if you like to be more in touch with all their newest updates follow them on their social media pages:

SweetBear Hair Review

Hello Ladies! It is time for my 2nd part of the SweetBear hair vitamins review. I already made a 1st impressions post, full of important information about the product and fun pictures, you can see HERE.

But today it is super serious post time! Kidding! I was so happy to use these little delicious guys I decided to even make a manicure inspired by them, you guys knew this was coming since I get excited by anything that comes in a turquoise shade.

Just a couple days after I got the bears I broke my relay long nails. It was heart breaking, but I decided to shorten them all up and keep an eye on them since I heard they are supposed to help with nail growth as well.
Here you can see my nail growth in approx. 2,5 months. I am beyond impressed since this takes so much time with me. I was very happy to see how fast they recovered and they grew back strong, sturdy and not inclined towards chipping that is my most common problem.

With such great results I just had to dedicate a manicure to them. <3

In honor of my amazing nail growth I did these nails. I swear if they were pink colored I wouldn't love them as much :) But the teal got me inspired and I created these fun nails with bears and glitter since strong healthy hair & nails make me fell like such a glam doll :)

For this manicure I used OPI Alpine snow, the teal is China glaze Too yacht to handle. I think it matches the bears perfectly. The glitters are from LA Girl Nostalgic. And the little bears are made with BM-614 plate and MoYou London Princess 4 plate.

OK but the point are the hair! My hair is a mess! It is thin, brittle and weak. But since I started eating the bears I can report that they are getting better. It took some time but the growth got a bit faster and the ends broke off less. Now I am sprouting new baby length hairs all over my head. You can also see how much they grew in the 3 months from my color difference. And I think they don't grease up as fast as they used to. Which is a big problem for me.

The point of the tacky selfie below is that before I could never wear my hair in 2 buns and have enough left over to fall over my shoulders. So this look is proof that I got hair that is a lot stronger and just more of it, so I can rock hairstyles I could never dream of before. Thank you SweetBear hair!

This was honestly a lovely experience that I would recommend to anyone. Since they are made with all natural ingredients anyone can use them no matter what diet you are on. They taste so delicious the recommended dosage is hard to stick to. They are just a fun and healthy way to go about beauty <3

Or check out my other post about them HERE if you want to learn more technical information about them.

Don't forget to check out the SweetBear Hair web page for more information about them. They are very active on social media which always makes a product more fun since you can follow them when it comes to their promotions and new items:

NOTD: Old Victorian gothic

We had a couple of rainy days here and I got a bit melancholy. So I turned to watching some movies that I had on my wait list and I discovered the masterpiece that is Crimson Peak. I decided to make a NOTD while watching the movie and this is what I came up with.

The movie is about a love triangle in the Victorian time with a few horror movie plot twists mixed in. I am a fan of historical movies but not so much horror, thou this took my breath away since it had such beautiful cinematography.

I didn't want to make a literal reincarnation of the movie on my nails - I just wanted to capture the vibe of it all.

The dresses and the house they live in give off a dark but glam vibe, and that was what I wanted to capture. Somehow I still got sucked in and made the accents gold since the main female lead relay has epic hair.

source: giphy

Everything is so dark and gloomy but so beautiful - a great movie to watch even if you are not a fan of ghost movies - and well Loki is a handsome leading man - always a good thing.

source: giphy
Since I did the mani mid movie watch it is quite simple, I didn't want to get too distracted. The base is Essence Born to sparkle. The stamps are made with p2 Golden edge and JQ-L19 plate. The dotts are made with Zoya Carter

Tutorial: Fuzzy nails

Just like crackle and textured nail polish any hard core polish collector owns some 'fuzzy glitter' nail polish that just collects dust now. I am one of those people and I always feel bad about all of these 'one season hit' nail polishes and I decided to use this one today for a fun little tutorial.

What you will need are 2 normal polishes that are contrasting as much as possible. And one of them must be a good base for the fuzzy top coat, meaning that when you apply the fuzz it will be very visible. Therefore I choose Models own Bikini as base. The base for the fuzz is Tedi black and the fuzzy star of the show is Golden rose Impression 9.

Step 1: Apply base nail polish * I am so sorry for the tutorial pictures, but neons are so hard to take accurate photos of*
Step 2: Apply the black nail polish with the dry brush technique. Meaning that you drain 90% of all the nail polish from its brush, by rubbing it on the edge of the polish bottle or using it up on a piece of paper. I just applied it at random.
Step 3: I repeated the same process the 2nd time.
Step 4: You then apply the 'fuzzy glitter' nail polish the same way over only the black parts of the nails. If you are worried that it will smudge the base look apply a top coat in between Step 3 and Step 4. If you use the same dry brush technique with the fuzzy polish it guarantees that you get a lot of particles to work with since when you drain the polish the sheer runny base polish usually flows away.
Step 5: Time for any possible clean up and top coat time. Since the fuzzy glitter polishes sometimes tend to dry a bit textured, a top coat is a good way to smooth out your nail beds.

Here you have it! A look that looks very intimidating - but it is crazy simple to make. Feel free to make it for your self - it is crazy simple.

NOTD: Silly Easter part. 2

The more I am trying to embrace Easter the less success I am having. It is such a weird mix of traditions, ideas and symbols. So I decided to make a silly looking manicure once more - currently I am working on a farm full of baby bunnies and chickens - and let me tell you - animals are silly! :)

I wanted to make a manicure with chickens, some that wear egg shells as hats and some that just hatched, but wrong side up :)

Please don't judge this manicure too harshly since it is all free hand drawn. That is a technique that is not my strong suit. Luckily this mani didn't requite that much skill. So for this manicure I used Orly Starburst as base. The free hand drawn details are made with BPS Yellow, Orange and Black

In case you are wondering, HERE is my other Easter themed post. It also has a whimsical theme - there are some hipster bunnies and chickens that wear carrots for ears so they can pass as bunnies.
I also created this little 'all you need for Spring' swatch post, to help you get inspired when you are looking for fun Easter nail polish right HERE.

For all my other works I made in this season and many other visit the page Glam - Express. There you can also find a lot of make up looks that will go great with my nail art. Thou I will be a lot less funny ;)

Afrodita Cosmetics Cotton & Silk collection review

Today I have a special review for you! It is the Afrodita Cosmetics Cotton & Silk collection that I almost used up by now. When I first saw it I was sold on the package alone. Whenever a beauty product comes in a sexy black package I instantly love it. I do not know what cotton smells like, even thou I have cotton blossoms at home I was excited to see what is inside. And I was not disappointed.

What I like about this collection is that the items have same or at least similar scents. So the items are cohesive in a way, which doesn't happen all the time. So lets get right to the reviews :)

First this is the Cotton flower Cream shower gel. As you know I created two other reviews of their shower gels that you can see HERE and HERE. I knew I can expect high quality. The liquid is white and creamy, easy to apply and foams up quickly. I wish the scent stayed on my skin as long as the other ones, but it still stayed with me at least a couple of hours later. The scent is quite soft and feminine, it smells fresh, but somewhere between floral and fruity. It reminds me of warm Summer nights spent under a clear starry sky, while smelling the blooming flowers.
The product is silicone and paraben free.

Next we have Cotton & silk Cream liquid hand wash. First let me tell you how happy it makes me to see the pretty packaging each time I go and wash my hands. The soap is very similar to the shower gel above when it comes to consistency, but the scent is a lot stronger. It lingers on your hands for quite some time, so be prepared to be the weirdo who smells their hands for no reason :) As stated the scent is like the one in the shower gel, but it smells a sweeter and fresher, an amplified version of the shower gel. And it leaves your hands refreshed and moisturized, your skin soft and restored. All of these attributes are important to me as a nail art blogger whose hands and nails are under attack all the time.

Lastly here we have Cotton & silk Hand & nail care cream. It is a watery cream that quickly absorbs in your hands and cuticles. The smell of the cream is almost identical to the shower gel. Soft, and stuck between something fruity and floral. It features cotton, silk proteins and macadamia oil, that helps with skin care, nail strength and softens the cuticles. In combination with the hand wash you get quite a nice micro spa treatment. Also this items is silicone, paraben and parafin free.

This is an amazing collection and I can't wait to get my hands on more of the shower gels since they just launched a new line a while back! Afrodita cosmetics outdid themselves here!

WitchCraft nails: Book of Shadows

I must admit a Book of Shadows always sounded so dark and ominous to me. But the more I dive deep into my Witchcraft research I realize that it is a big part of both light and dark magic. Also the Charmed from the 90ies show had one - so how dark can it be?

That was my inspiration for today.

Speaking of the TV Show Charmed - I am a couple of seasons deep - and I can tell you the love for the show is still strong. They just don't make them like they used to. I am on a big 90ies fantasy shows bender, so feel free to leave any suggestions in the comments.

source: tumblr
I wanted to make a look with multi chrome polishes of 2 color spectrum's. At the same time I wanted to make it so it reflects my idea of the duality of the concept of Book of shadows. So I made some script that is in 2 colors and some ominous looking hexagrams :)

For this manicure I used Color club We'll never be royals and Cash only as base. The stamps are made with BPS Black stamping polish, the plates I used are MoYou London Gothic 12 and Circus 7.

Stay magical ...

SweetBear Hair 1st impressions

Most ladies love chocolate, I also do but not that much. Gummy candy on the other hand has my attention 100% of the time. When I saw that there are SweetBear Hair vitamins on the market I almost lost my mind. Not only are they good for my trouble area (hair) they also come in a beloved bear shape - I just had to get my claws on them. So here is my 1st impression post - since I have been taking them for quite some time now, and I want to share my experience with you all.

Food supplements are notoriously bad tasting - a torture to take, but the SweetBear Hair gummy candy is incredibly delicious. So on the side of the bottle it says:
  • Gluten free
  • Cruelty free
  • Vegan
Which in my head spells bad tasting, but they are very sweet and they vaguely taste like blueberries. To a point that the 2 bears a day recommended dosage becomes hard to obey by, since my natural instinct was to stuff them all in my face.
This is how you use them - apply them to the problem area ;)
The bears contain so much extra healthy things, I just can't imagine they are not healthy. And I just love to monitor my body to see what will come out of it. So here is just a short list of the few things that are inside the candy and is quite important for your body:
  • Biotin
  • Selenium
  • Zinc
  • Silica
  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin B
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin D

I was excited to hear that the candy helps with hair growth, which is something that is a big problem for me. But they also help you grow new hair and some bloggers even report they help with nail growth and that is something that is even more important to me! So I am keeping an eye on my hair and nails these days :)

They are plotting something I can tell ...

Don't forget to check out the SweetBear Hair web page for more information about them. They are very active on social media which always makes a product more fun since you can follow them when it comes to their promotions and new items:
