Pick N Mix challenge: Bright and happy

I wanted to make a mash of all types of thunder bolt patterns I could find - and later I realised it made me think of something bright and happy - Pikachu and Pokemon :)

The base on all the nails is Essence I got a crush on blue, the glitters are Salon polish Kaboom. The stamps are made with Mundo de Unas Yellow, Neon yellow and Pale blue. The stamping plate I used is MoYou London Time traveller Back to the 80s 2. Over it all I added some water decals and studs I got from Bornpretty store.

In case you live under a rock and don't know who is Pikachu - here is a gif of him being pissed and telling you to get with the program :)

Pick N Mix challenge: Teal + lilac

This is one of my all time favorite manis! It just works and I fell in love with it in a second ... then it chipped a moment after taking the pictures. So this one is going on my 'redo' pile :)

I love the color combination and I feel like these nails just scream the 80ies. <3

For this manis base I used Barry M Guava, China glaze Highlight of my summer and Claire's Beach. The stamps are made with Mundo de Unas Lavender and MoYou London Time traveller Back to the 80s 2 stamping plate. I placed some metallic studs in a way I think is kind off unique :)

Does this ever happen to you guys? The most perfect mani chips the second it is finished? :)

NOTD: Pretty punk nails

Stamping nail art always look amazing specially if they are made over a unique base. Mostly I see gradients, water marbles or nails done with some type of saran wrap technique. But all of those techniques require a lot of clean up and drying time ... Ain't nobody got time for that :)

There is an easier way to achieve multi dimensional interesting base for your stamping design - just stamp something under the design you want to shine and it adds a special twist if the layers of the stamps somehow match.

I wanted for my big safety pin stamp to shine. So for the base I created a grid of smaller safety pins patterns. I just layered silver ones over gray ones and vice versa. They look like tough girl flowers and since I used polishes with 2 different finishes (creme and metallic) they get even more dimension.

Over that fabulous multi-dimensional base I added the big safety pins and I think this is a great way to finish the look. As you can see there is no need to bother with difficult messy techniques just layer stamps since you will deal with clean up anyways when the time comes to add the design you want to stand out :)

For this mani I used Essence Love is in the air as base. The small pins are made with Star gazer no. 232 and Catrice L'Ombre a saussouci, the plate is MoYou London Punk 2. The big pins are made with Essence stamp me! black and MoYou London Biker 2.

BPS Review BP-59 stamping plate

I am not a cat person but I got this Bornpretty store stamping plate and the cute little pattern in the middle grew on me. The cutest cat I have is a black and white fat boy called Romeo therefore I decided to make a black and white mix of stamps.

Here you can see the BP-59 stamping plate and all the patterns it features. It's has a lot of cats but also a couple of deer and sheep patterns that are also very cute for all dog lovers out there :)

The plate is made perfectly and a has a higher level of quality etchings then the square plates I have been reviewing recently. Also the middle full pattern I choose is big enough to fit even my big claws what I think is always good news.

For the base of this mani I used Color club Oh boy!. The stamps are made with Essence stamp me! black and white and BP-59 stamping plate. All nails have the white stamp under and black over except the pinkie finger. Also I added some black and white iridescent rhinestones that are surrounded by some teal matte stones in the corner of each nail.

So all you cat lovers head on over to their nail art site and catch this cute plate. And don't forget to use the 10% OFF coupon below :)

BPS Review BP-L013 stamping plate part 2

The 1st moment I saw the BP-L013 I fell in love with the drops pattern since I immediately got the idea to make a rainy day mani. Like I said in the previous post about this plate it is full of classic patters that are good for special occasion manis or everyday manis :)

Here you can see again the entire plate and all it's designs. Bornpretty store relay knows what a girl needs :)

And here is the mani I created. It's supposed to look like a rainy day mani. With white clouds that have blue rain drops falling from them. And I added a bit of iridescent pearl like rhinestones since I think the mani needed a bit something extra.

For this mani I used Essence Wild white ways, Catrice It's all I can blue and Barry M Blueberry to make the initial gradient. Then I made the stamps with Mundo de Unas Blue. Than I added a bit more white to make it seem like some clouds and the rhinestones.

Here you can see the initial gradient and stamping.

BPS Review BP-L013 stamping plate part 1

This is the last big stamping plate I got from Bornpretty store. All the patterns are full sized and big enough to fit even my big claws. So the plate BP-L013 features a lot of 'classic' patterns like hounds tooth, hearts, tribal pattern, diamonds and many others. I think it is a cool start up plate :)

Like all the rest it is perfectly etched and it was easy to work with. Thou I must admit the Bornpretty circular plates are of a better quality then these ones. Here you can see all the patterns featured on the plate.

For this mani I used OPI You're so Vain-illa, LA Girl Love letters and China glaze What a pansy to create the gradient. I made the stamps with the top lane diamond patterns that seem similar but are quite different. The stamping polishes I used are Essence stamp me! black and white. I added some rhinestones since every fancy nail art requires a little bling.

If you are on the hunt for the classic start up stamping plate head on over to the Bornpretty store nail art department and get yourself this amazing plate. And don't forget to use the 10% Coupon code below :)

Summer music festival nails tutorial

Summer is all about neons and music festivals! And I decided to feature that into my next nail art tutorial. At the same time it's full of tips how to feature your favorite polishes in 3D nail decoration without trying to buy new nail art supplies and just reuse your old ones :)

For this mani you need a base polish that is nude - mine also features neon glitters of the same colors as the 3D nail decorations. But you can also use any other sheer polish with neon glitters over a nude base. The base I used is Yes Love G1-2 in 2 coats. For stamps I used Essence stamp me! white and BM411 stamping plate since I wanted to find a pattern that features musical notes.

And to create the PLAY, REWIND, PAUSE & STOP symbols I used some random metallic 3D nail studs I got. But since I wanted the 3D portion of the nail art to pick up the colors of the neon glitters I decided to paint them with my favorite neon polishes.
I painted the studs first with Essence stamp me! white so the neons can be bright when I apply them. I choose Morgan Taylor Pink Flame-ingo, China glaze Sun worshipper, Kiwi cool-ada and Yellow polka dot bikini. I painted them over the white base I applied on the studs. Make sure it all dries before you apply it to the nail or it will smudge.

Step 1: Apply your base polish. I used 2 coats of  Yes Love G1-2. But any other nude polish and neon glitter will do. I choose such glitters that can match the 3D decorations on the nails.

Step 2: Apply the music inspired nail stamps. I used Essence stamp me! white stamping polish and BM411 stamping plate. The placement of the stamp is not essential since the 3D part of the decoration will be the most dominant part of the nail.

Step 3: Apply a thin layer of top coat and place the colored studs. And when it dries apply another generous layer of top coat or use a gel top coat and cure the studs in place. With that you make the studs shiny since most neons are matte. Also if you are not very skilled with placement don't forget to apply and let dry a top coat over the stamps so they don't smudge if you move the studs all over.

There you have it! A simple summer music festival mani that will catch the eye of any DJ ;) There not a lot of work involved just it takes some time to get the 3D decoration ready :)

BPS Review BP-L018 stamping plate part 2

Recently I have been super into gradients and water decals ... this obsession is still very much alive so I decided to ride it out while making my next Bornpretty store review.

I have this amazing BP-L018 stamping plate that is full of winter patterns like snowflakes, nesting dolls and sweater designs. But there are a couple patterns that don't belong the theme and I decided to make a decal out of the big feather pattern.

The feather pattern seems a bit large but in reality is just as big as the rest of the full coverage patterns. I just applied it to my stamper and colored it in. After it dried I cut it in 2 pieces and applied it on the nail. I did the same thing twice so it looks like just one big feather.

The plate was easy to work with and the lines of the design were not to thin so the coloring in part of making the decals was quite easy.

For this mani I used Color club For you as base. And at the end I added some rhinestones since the outer nails seemed a bit empty to me. The decals are made with Mundo de Unas Dark purple for the outlines. And the inside of the feather is painted with Essence Purple sugar, China glaze At vase value and Catrice Yellow-sub mandarine.

I hope you liked the result. As always the Bornpretty store stamping plates are a joy to work with even when it comes to decals. So head on over to their nail art department and get yourself something nice. And while you are there don't forget to use the RJL91 10% OFF COUPON :)

Tutorial: Radiant gradient + stamping flowers for TNCC

I have recently relay been into making gradients and the most impressive ones I have seen are of the radiant kind. I also decided to make it with some textured polishes since I had 2 neons and I wanted to make so trendy summer nails that remind me a bit of mans swim trunks :)

To see how this is made I created a tutorial for all you lovelies :)

To create this gradient I used China glaze Of coarse, LA Girl Sandy beach and Essence White wild ways. To make the gradient I used a regular make up sponge. Also since some textured polishes are a bit fickle don't forget a nice top coat or a matte top coat if you want to give it that sandy feeling.

Step 1: I applied 2 coats of LA Girl Sandy beach as base. It's the most perfect electric blue shiny textured polish.

Step 2: After that I applied some white polish to make sure that the center of the gradient will shine. I used the brush of the polish Essence Wild white ways. Just gently dab it in the middle of the nail where you want the lighter part of the gradient. Be sure not to smudge to much of the dark base polish or there will be a lot more work with the sponging.

Step 3: After that I applied some of China glaze Of coarse on the sponge. A bit bigger spot of it then the white part on the nail. And around it I added some LA Girl Sandy beach so the transition is more smooth. Then I sponged it all on the nail. It took about 2 coats of sponging the gradient to make it look like this.

Step 4: After the clean up (that is fairly easy with a textured polish) I added some top coat and made it ready for the stamps. Thou the gradient is pretty I can't live without some extra nail art :)

Like I said I wanted to give the nails a Hawaii type of mens trunks feel so I added some simple white flowers stamps.

For the stamps I used Essence stamp me white as polish and BP-43 stamping plate.

I hope this tutorial helped and offered some inspiration for the upcoming summer season :)
